Wood Shavings The Journal of Crown Point and our Neighborhood
<< Back
A custom beadboard island gracefully separates the kitchen from the dining area. Two columns perfectly frame the kitchen and are topped by a beautifully designed arch detail.

The clients love to entertain and this split-level island is ideal for serving guests.

The lower level, topped with blue azul granite, is at the perfect height for food prep and clean-up. Guests can gather at the upper level, socializing with the chef and enjoying hors d'oeuvres served on the wood top.

To the left and right of the fluted farmhouse sink two dishwasher drawers are conveniently placed for speedy clean-up.

Cabinetry on the range wall is built to fit the exterior angles of the house, creating a unique alcove.

Angled upper and lower cabinets are accessible from the right side.

The clients chose double ovens placed conveniently outside the main traffic area, but still within easy reach.

Bumped out and extended to the ceiling, a custom paneled range hood highlights the range area. A small arch detail echoes the shape of the larger one above the island.

Handmade tiles applied on the diagonal are bordered with intricately detailed blue and white tiles.

The six burner range top is emphasized with a graceful Victorian toekick, giving the cabinet a finished furniture look.

Surrounding the range top, seven drawers ensure adequate storage and accessibility for this cooking area.

In keeping with the ambience of the old summer camps on Winnipesaukee, this home has incorporated several outdoor living spaces. This part of the kitchen has access to an inviting screened-in porch.

The counter in this area acts as a staging space for snacks and entrees to be served on the porch.

Beadboard, a common element in lakeside cottages, is used repeatedly throughout this kitchen.

Custom beadboard appliance panels on the Sub-zero refrigerators, and also on the front of the island, offer continuity and cottage charm.
