Wood Shavings The Journal of Crown Point and our Neighborhood

Designed for spaciousness and versatility, this kitchen provides two separate seating spaces. Seating at the island is perfect for a casual lunch, while seating at the peninsula is helpful for situations when the chef needs room to work.

On the sink wall, true lite muntin doors flank the window, and upper cabinetry is topped with a two-piece crown moulding.

A white fluted apron-front farmhouse sink brings out the white flecks in the granite countertop. A Victorian toekick adds elegance to the run of cabinetry.

The end of the peninsula is finished with a framed bead-board panel. The same treatment is applied to the island.

Above the cooking space is a custom paneled range hood with a mantle-style plate shelf supported by elegant Victorian brackets.

Four-inch hand-made tile was applied on the diagonal to create a beautiful backsplash.

Decorative custom spindles enhance the beauty of the cherry island and also serve as support for the overhang on the granite countertop.

Open shelving provides display space and adds depth and visual interest to the island.

The granite countertop on the island gently curves out, maximizing dining space.

Intended for use as a breakfast bar, the beautiful cherry hutch is equipped with a second sink and plenty of counter space.

The sink cabinet is bumped out with spindle details that echo the spindles on the island. True lite muntin doors and a bead-board back complete the period style look.

Tall cabinets in contrasting Maize frame the hutch, tying it in with perimeter cabinetry. The cabinets feature open shelving, a plate rack, and pigeon hole drawers, creating a stunning and unique alcove.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a small home office and pantry, complete with undercounter refrigerator.

The countertop is at kitchen height, perfect for performing quick office tasks such as making lists and taking phone messages.

Cabinetry is finished in Sea Green over Pitch Black Milk Paint. Applied brackets frame the seating area below the counter, adding a nice custom detail.
