Sneak Peek: Wood and Steel!

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

We’re taking a sneak peek today at this handsome tall cabinet out of Maple and finished with our clear Natural sealer and topcoat. Constructed from our Limited Line, this frameless cabinet features shelving behind the upper doors, a stainless steel tambour, and four drawers below; the two upper drawers clad in felt. The doors, drawer fronts and end panels are all made “open-face”, which means there are no visible plywood seams in any of the faces.

More images of this cabinet can be seen when it is added to our “From the Cabinetmaker’s Bench” section on Monday. Like this contemporary style? Contact one of our top-notch designers today and get started on your own dream kitchen!

A great way to raise funds for charity is to organize a kitchen tour, opening up a handful of well-designed kitchens to the public for a small entry fee.  Several times a year, Crown Point kitchens are featured in tours like this around the country.   Most recently, the stunning kitchen above was featured in the 5th Annual Palace Theatre Kitchen Tour.  Proceeds from the tour benefited youth programs at the Historic Palace Theatre in Manchester, NH, and we were happy to be a sponsor!

Voted “Best Kitchen Tour in NH” in 2008 by NH Magazine, the tour just completed it’s 5th year of highlighting some of the finest kitchen designs in the area.  This year’s tour was a success, featuring seven homes and welcoming 350 visitors to check out the innovative kitchen designs.

The happy homeowner of this beautiful Bedford home was thrilled to have her kitchen in the tour.  And, our own Christine Dunleavy, designer of the featured kitchen, was on hand the day of the tour answering any questions and sharing kitchen design advice with attendees.

Kitchen cabinetry is Maple finished in Burnt Umber, with a painted island in Antique White for a nice contrast.  And just look at that view!

Charity kitchen tours are always a lot of fun, and this one was no exception.  It was a wonderful event, for a great cause!

Featured Builder: Tim Jones of Jones Contracting

Every so often we interview and spotlight a design professional who has worked with Crown Point on various projects.  Today, we’re proud to introduce  you to Tim Jones of Jones Contracting in West Creek New Jersey!

Drawing from years of experience as a finish carpenter and project manager, Tim Jones founded his own company, Jones Contracting, in 2000. Since then, he and a hand full of skilled employees have made a name for themselves, specializing in all interior and exterior finish work in oceanfront homes along the southern coast of New Jersey.

What sets you apart from other builders in your area?

My background is in finished carpentry. Working on site everyday brings an opportunity to invent and visualize custom touches that set each home apart from the rest.

How would you characterize the homes you build and remodel?

They are unique with quite a bit of character. We pay attention to details and add things like railing and exterior trim.

What is the greatest challenge for you when building or remodeling a home?

Bringing the project in on time and on budget is always a major focus. You want to deliver a home to a happy client because if they’re not happy, then you’re in trouble!

What are some of the projects you’ve done with Crown Point?

We’ve done several projects with Crown Point, and we’ve got one in production right now. One of the more interesting projects was a contemporary beach house on Long Beach Island. The cabinetry was maple natural from Crown Point’s new Frameless line. The challenge here was that the kitchen walls were rounded. Crown Point made sure the cabinetry installed perfectly.

What do you like about working with Crown Point?

They’re a joy to work with, and you can’t beat the quality of the cabinets. I’ve installed many kitchens over the years and there’s no comparison to Crown Point. When it comes to details, Crown Point Cabinetry has taken my projects over the top. Because of this, I continue to build fine homes during these tough times.

How do you spend your free time?

I spend as much time as I can with my wife and four daughters. We have a small boat, so we like to get out on the water. We also love to go camping in an RV and travel to different places. And, I love watching sports, especially hockey and football.

He chose a bold Pitch Black Milk Paint finish for the base cabinetry, creating a stunning contrast against Maple upper cabinetry finished in Burnt Umber.

Red Dragon granite countertops tie the two finishes together, completing the look.

Other design details include a dropped baking station below the window, true lite muntin doors, and beautiful maple crown moulding.

“I was very impressed with the entire process,” said Cahill. “Each piece fit together like a puzzle, and the cabinetry just speaks for itself.”

Accents of soft green are the perfect complement to Steeple White cabinetry. The calming color palette sets the tone for a relaxing space to gather with the family.

“It is such a pleasure to spend time in our beautiful new Crown Point kitchen!”

“The cabinets exude quality from the distinctive crown moulding and high-functionality features to the beauty and durability of the painted finish. They integrate well with the rest of the home and are the perfect complement to the large arched opening between the kitchen and family room that was a ‘must-have’ design element from the start.”

“We would especially like to thank our designer Jeff Schneider. His attention to detail and extra guidance for our contractor during the construction phase ensured that the cabinets fit like a glove upon arrival!”
