The Edson Project: Not Your Average Kitchen Remodel!

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

George and Jill Edson have lived in their Cornish, New Hampshire home for 42 years.  The 1870′s cape has changed and evolved over those four decades and now they are looking forward to remodeling the kitchen area they installed in 1969.

At the heart of this renovation will be the beautiful cabinetry that Crown Point will custom build for them.  Join us as we follow George and Jill through the remodeling process and the realization of their dream of not one kitchen, but two, plus a walk in pantry!

The first installment of the Edson Project introduces George and Jill.  You’ll learn a bit about the history of the home, why they’re remodeling, and how they intend to accomplish the plan.

So sit back, relax and enjoy the show!  Oh, and be sure to stay tuned for the second installment in the Edson Project-The Transformation Begins!  Coming Soon!

Cat Relaxing on custom built in bench

The four-legged members of your family can absolutely be kept in mind when it comes to designing your cabinetry! Tailor-made especially for Spot, Fido or Mr. Jinxy! Let’s take a look at a couple of different challenges in which our clients were in search of a solution.

White Cat Cabinet

For our first cabinet, the client wanted a way to house the litter box. We designed it with an open interior with storage shelf above and an easy entrance. The large arch cut is an always-open door for their cat.  He can come and go as he pleases, (ooh, sorry, no pun intended!) and no one will know the cat box is even there!

White Cat Cabinet Door Open

This view shows off the spacious interior.  (Note: The two pieces along the bottom of the cabinet are merely shipping braces, not part of the cabinetry.)

Custom Dog Gate

In another situation, a client had two daschund puppies and wanted to give them a place to call their own, yet keep them close by. The dogs enjoyed feeling secure, so we designed this dog-friendly custom cabinet into their Crafstman kitchen (that we were also building). The owner has since told us that the dogs love to snuggle into their comfy bed inside this beautifully integrated haven!

The Crown Point Ramblers

The Crown Point Ramblers pose for a picture as they prepare for the 5K Walk

The 2011 Turning Points Network Steppin’ Up to End Violence 5K Walk was held on April 16th in Claremont.  TPN is a private, non-profit agency offering crisis and support services to female and male survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking.

Crown Point was a major sponsor of this year’s walk and the Crown Point Ramblers joined the other 475 walkers to help TPN reach their goal of $40,000 raised!  These funds will go to violence and stalking survivors, as well as the agency’s prevention education programs for local schools.

Photos from this year’s walk are now on the TPN website!

We are looking forward to Steppin’ Up again next year!
