how to buy direct

Architect with Plans
Custom Builder
Homeowner

Crown Point Cabinetry is the only major custom cabinetmaker that allows you to work and purchase directly from us. Whether you are an architect, a designer, the home builder or home owner, the Crown Point Design and Sales team works directly with you, helping you achieve your dream cabinetry, from design to delivery! This program saves you money, as there is no middleman adding their cost of doing business to the price of your cabinetry.

(Every now and then we get asked: “So where is my nearest dealer?” Crown Point does not have any dealers or a dealer network. Zero. Zip. Nada. We design here, we handcraft the cabinetry here, and we deliver from here. “Here” being Claremont, NH, of course!)

So the Direct Program is, in other words, the only way to get Crown Point cabinetry for your home or client. You can start the process to get a quote below!

Step 1 - Gather Measurements

If the thought of reading numbers on a rule makes your palms sweat, have no fear! Here’s some guidelines:

First and foremost–no need to be exact! At this stage, if your measurements are within one (1) inch, that will be close enough. (Really!)
You should use a steel tape measure; one that spans your longest run in one shot is ideal. Or, for real ease of use, one of those laser measurers. You might want to put the cat in another room, though. Avoid measuring with a ruler, yard stick, or cloth tape. And especially not a piece of yarn.

OK, a couple of reminders while the thought of new cabinetry is running through your head:

A. There is a design fee, fully credited upon purchase of cabinetry. It is $500 or 1.5% of the estimated cost of the project, whichever is greater. For a more detailed explanation, please see our Design Fee Information.

B. Crown Point’s current lead time is 24-28 weeks due to unprecedented demand. As such, because this is handcrafted custom cabinetry, we have had to extend our current lead time to September delivery on ALL new Crown Point orders. (Our limited custom line, Crown Select, is delivering in August.)

C. The average range of cost of a Crown Point custom kitchen is $40,000 to $50,000.

Now, Let’s Measure!

  1. Grab your tape measure of choice and a notebook (digital or pad and pencil). Do a quick sketch, drawing the walls, and indicating any doors, windows, wall bump-outs, fireplaces, etc. Use our sample room as a guideline.
  2. Now, starting at any corner, measure from there to the first thing indicated on your sketch. (It may be a door or window casing, or maybe where the wall turns 90 degrees. Every home is different!) Now start from that point, and take your next measurement. Remember, measure to the outside of all casings.
  3. Continue on for the rest of the room in the same fashion, measuring and jotting down the results.
  4. Once the whole room has been documented, check you work by adding up the total length of each wall. Remeasure if you get different overall lengths for two walls that should measure the same!
  5. When you are satisfied with the results, there’s one more type of measurement that should be taken: Floor-to-ceiling height. (You may need a measuring buddy for this) Starting in a corner (it doesn’t have to be tight to the walls, a couple of feet in will work fine) measure from the floor the ceiling. Do that for each corner, and note it on your sketch.

If a kitchen or laundry room is being planned, having a list of your intended appliances may seem unnecessary at this point. However, it is quite to the contrary! Providing this information means that our designers will be able to give you as complete a plan as possible. This doesn’t mean you won’t be able to change your mind, you can!

On page 2 of your notebook, jot down the appliances that will go into each room; either the brand and model or the size.

If the room in question has no appliances, please proceed to Step 3.

We realize there are many choices when it comes to home appliances. To help with a little guidance we offer a partial list of manufacturers with links to their web sites. We provide this simply as a courtesy, please do not consider this list as an endorsement of any kind:

AGA Stoves
ASKO Appliances
Bosch
Dacor
Dynamic Cooking Systems
Fisher & Paykal
Gaggenau USA
GE Appliances
Jenn-Air
KitchenAid
LG Appliances
Maytag
Miele
Sub-Zero and Wolf
Thermador
Viking Range Corporation
Whirlpool

A wishlist is simply a list of specific choices that, a: you really can’t live without, or b: you really can’t live without. You get the idea…

Examples:
“I’ve always wanted a pantry cabinet!”
“Our new laundry room must have space for hampers and a place to fold clothes!”
“An island. And it needs to have a breakfast bar!”
“Our kids need their own space to do homework.”
“We want our master bath to be something special!”
“Getting organized with some great closet space is what we want!”
“The HD TV needs to go into a gorgeous media center.”

On page 3 of your notebook, write down each aspect that’s important to you. The more you provide, the more personalized your designed space can be!

Our talented kitchen designers will work very closely with you to incorporate your desires!

Everything written down? Great job, you’re almost done! Let’s move on to Step 4!

For anyone that has been through any remodeling job, you’ve learned that total budgets are quite easy to calculate:

(1) Decide upon the absolute maximum you wish to spend, and not one penny more.

(2) And then…double it.

(We see a bunch of nodding heads, all saying, “Been there, done that.”)

Well, then, what do you budget? Far be it from us to tell you how to allocate your funds, so we’ll stick to what we know: The average cost for our cabinetry in a custom kitchen. The magic number range is $40,000 to $50,000. Sure, your cabinets may run less (or more), based upon many factors, but at least this provides you with a starting point.

On page 4 of your notebook write down the number you are comfortable with.

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, we create your custom cabinetry, we don’t do appliances, countertops, flooring, lighting, etc.

Well, not this year, anyway. 😉

OK, you’ve got all your information together. Now what?

Give us a call at 800-999-4994 (keep your notebook handy!) or email us, and one of our in-house designers will be able to discuss your cabinetry project with you. (If your notebook is digital, you can attach your documents in your email. We accept all types of formats: pdf, Word, Illustrator, Photoshop, chiseled granite slabs [those don’t do well through email though], and so on.)

Any questions along the way? Email us or call us, 800-999-4994! We look forward to hearing from you!
